better policies for managing research data

CSC is the non-profit Finnish national HPC centre providing supercomputing and networking services to Finnish academia, research institutes, public sector and industry. It supports a European-wide customer base of thousands of researchers in disciplines such as biosciences, linguistics, chemistry and mathematical modelling. CSC represents Finland in DEISA, EGEE, EGI, PRACE and ELIXIR with staff holding key positions in these initiatives.

CSC also has expertise in data management and collaborates with the Finnish National Library and National Film Archive for service provision and long term storage. CSC is also the coordinator of EUDAT, one of the largest pan-European e-Infrastructure projects cofunded by the EC. EUDAT is a three-year project that will deliver a Collaborative Data Infrastructure (CDI) with the capacity and capability for meeting future researchers' needs in a sustainable way. With the inclusion of disciplines from across the spectrum of scientific endeavour in a common infrastructure, EUDAT will also provide the opportunity for data-sharing between disciplines and cross-fertilisation of ideas.

CSC's primary contribution will be working with NordForsk in the development of policy recommendations synthesising the intervention modelling and evaluation framework developing activities and overseeing the implementation of those models and frameworks in use cases studies.
